For the first time, Winston-Salem has ranked in the top 100 of Livability's list of Best Places to Live report.
Livability ranked Winston-Salem 92nd. The top-ranked city was Fort Collins, Colorado.
Traditional southern hospitality meets international flair in Winston-Salem. The city experienced steady growth over the past decade and maintained a relatively low cost of living, according to the Livability report. Several universities call the city home, highlighting the importance of education and the arts scene.

"We have extremely affordable housing, a collaborative ecosystem for entrepreneurs, numerous resources and opportunities for artists and creatives, and a growth mindset that empowers us to punch above our weight," Kayla Norris, operations and community development coordinator at Center for Creative Economy, said in the Livability report. "I'd say Winston is not only a great place to live, but also a great place to work."
Livability considers certain factors, including demographics, the economy, health, housing and education, of 1,000 American cities and selects the Top 100 to receive the honor. During this pandemic year, factors including job numbers, broadband access, economic resilience and growth were also evaluated.
Winston-Salem also ranked as one of the best places for new remote workers to live and one of the best places to start a small business.
